Project Description

Kim enlisted in the Australian Regular Army in February 1975 and discharged in July 1995. This period of service consisted of recruit training at the 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Kapooka NSW. Kim was allocated to the Infantry Corps and then trained at the Infantry Centre, Singleton NSW, he then had the following postings;

The 5th/7th Battalion The Royal Australian Regiment, Officer Cadet School, 1st Battalion The Royal Australian Regiment, 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Land Warfare Centre, (Victoria Detachment), Melbourne University Regiment, 1st Battalion The Royal Australian Regiment and the Australian Defence Force Academy. During this service Kim served twice in Malaysia and Active Service in Somalia (Unified Task Force; UNITAF) with the 1st Battalion (1 RAR), Operation Solace in 1993.

In September 1995 Kim joined the Victoria Police serving within the Melbourne metropolitan suburbs. Kim retired from policing in July 2016 and moved to the Sunshine Coast.

Kim joined RSL Victoria in 1995 and was a member with Watsonia and Montmorency/Eltham Sub Branches. Kim is currently a member with Nambour Sub Branch with the duties of Membership Officer and Delegate.
