Sub Branch History

Tewantin Noosa RSL Sub Branch was formed about 1919 by the Memorial Park overlooking the Noosa River.

In 1922 the Soldier Memorial Statue was erected in the park and facing down the main street of Tewantin. The memorial was funded by public subscriptions at the time.

In 1980 the gaming, liquor licensing and employment was branched out as the Tewantin Noosa RSL and Citizens Memorial Club. The Club gradually acquired land adjacent to the RSL Sub Branch building and built large new buildings in two stages.

The Sub Branch provides a wide variety of information and services to veterans and their families including Pensions/Welfare, ANZAC Day and other Remembrance Day Services, cemetery work and maintenance, memorabilia display, liaison with local schools and many others.
